Greening Guinea-Bissau:
A Journey into Sustainable Development

Embark on a transformative expedition with us as we delve into the north western part of Guinea-Bissau, unlocking the hidden potential of its diverse landscapes includes marine ecosystem, rivers and forest. Join the Green Economy Partnership (GEP) and the Government of Guinea-Bissau in a collaboration aimed at exploring the untapped opportunities in forestry, peatlands for carbon capture, blue carbon, and agriculture.

Our mission goes beyond environmental exploration; it's about fostering sustainable change. The partnership between GEP and Guinea Bissau's Government is set to pave the way for carbon abatement projects, potentially generating Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs). This venture opens avenues for investment in forestry, agriculture, blue carbon, and other sustainability-focused initiatives.

As we navigate through different places and islands in Guinea-Bissau, we aim to actively seek and monitor opportunities for the development of carbon abatement projects. Our goal is not only to contribute to global carbon reduction efforts but also to make a positive impact on the local communities. In a country where more than two-thirds of the population lives below the poverty line, the Government and GEP are committed to ensuring that our ITMO (Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcome) projects bring tangible benefits to the communities we encounter.

This is more than a journey; it's a collaborative effort towards a greener, more sustainable Guinea-Bissau. Join us in this exploration that transcends environmental boundaries and brings positive change to the people and the planet.

Day 1 - Exploration of Dulombi Forest

Dulombi National Park, a verdant shield in Guinea-Bissau, soaks up planet-warming carbon while sheltering a menagerie of mammals, from playful chimps to elusive endangered species. Its lush embrace shields communities from climate-fueled floods and droughts, while its wetlands filter precious water. Though facing challenges, dedicated conservation efforts like sustainable practices and research glimmer with hope, weaving a future where Dulombi's resilience thrives in harmony with a changing climate.
